Mike Rideout from South West Yacht Charters and Chardonnay Coast Sailing was looking to upgrade the company’s existing website to something more modern with the ability for staff to update information easily.
Client Brief:
The new site would need to accommodate the two sides of the business. South West Yacht Charters for bare boat yacht charter and also Chardonnay Coast Sailing their certified sail training division. Our goal was to present the two businesses within the same website and Mike requested the front page have two clear options for navigation. We achieved that with two obvious button links to take visitors to the area of the website that interested them.
The content was then separated into logical categories to aid staff in organising and adding future content, but also to provide an easy navigational structure for the site.
Project Overview:
Due to the fairly substantial content required for the site, we suggested the use of a Content Management System (CMS) and WordPress is one of our favourites and therefore was a natural choice for the project.
The original design was dated and dark with some difficult to read areas of text and a random page structure which made navigation awkward at best. We custom designed a theme with a fresh new look and a logical navigation system to allow visitors to the site the ability to find what they were looking for easily.

The site needed to be accessible from all common browsers and was coded accordingly. A contact form was provided for visitors to contact the business in an easy and secure way.
